On Monday, September 14, 2026, we held the 11th AKAMON Seminar at the Akamon Office in Hongo, Bunkyo Ward.

Our guest was Ms. Kawarada, CEO of Rice Platformer Co., Ltd., building a global brand centered on Japanese food and culture. Born in Aomori, she studied engineering at the University of Tokyo, then joined LINE Corporation.

Inspired by "Summer Wars" and a wish to build platforms connecting the world, she became the company's top salesperson, then took on multiple teams at once, from marketing to engineering.

Determined to reach beyond the domestic market, a senior's invitation led her into the onigiri business as CEO — an eventful career from there.

She shared what it's really like to be a business leader: the painful decision, as a hired CEO, to leave a company amid questions of responsibility, and how that led her to realize she must keep winning under her own responsibility — a striking story of rising again.

She also spoke on the value that will matter in the AI era, as routine tasks are automated and value concentrates around human warmth and real connection. She touched on her life principles and leadership of facing each staff member as an individual.

In the Q&A, she responded earnestly to business questions and students' concerns.

We are grateful to Ms. Kawarada for her time despite her busy schedule. We look forward to the next event!
